An Article About Nursing Home Abuse

Another example of nursing home abuse in Oklahoma.  This must be stopped.

What is a living will?

A legal document that informs your health care providers and family about your wishes regarding medical treatments in the event that you are not able to speak for yourself or a physician has determined that you are unable to understand your diagnosis and therapeutic options.

It also allows you to include a description of your beliefs, values, and general care and treatment preferences in the event that your living will does not specifically cover a particular situation. A living will can also be referred to as an advance directive or health care directive.

The trust of any Nursing Homes with a loved one is a Test!!! Not wanting to make the decision of placing someone, whether it be mother, father, spouse, self or a family member has it challenges. But when you think you have the safest one, unfortunate things occur. When I placed my husband in a nursing home due to car accident, it has been very challenging with the care he receives. Needing TO BE RE-POSITIONED EVERY 2 HRS, and must be done time allotted. Especially if you are trying to prevent Ulcers on the bottom? But this is has become a regular clinical mistake. And the consequences have damaging effect. The Nursing insists on mishandling the care required for him. I haven't had any concerns of falls yet? But I have had other compromises with his skin and mouth care. I hope that this movement can push families, communities, and THE LEGAL OFFICIALS have more movement to the families, rather than to the Nursing Home.
